Containerized moving is the ability to move your belongings by packing and moving them in a container.
Mid-West Moving & Storage offers container moving and storage services for homes and businesses moving to or from Chicago, IL. These features offer a convenient and cost-effective solution for customers moving long distance. Whether you need 1 or 10, we will drop them off at your location so you can pack them. Then when you are ready, we will pick them up and transport them to your new location at your convenience.
The container size you choose is delivered to your home and placed on your driveway. The container has metal skids that enhance ground-level loading by providing 6″ of clearance from the floor to keep your items off the ground and dry. Mid-West Moving & Storage will also provide a ramp that will easily allow for heavy boxes to be loaded onto the container. On the inside, you can expect to find installed tie-ins to easily secure your belongings during the move.
Number and Size of Containers Needed
The number of containers will largely depend on the number of rooms you have. If you are unsure of how many you need, it is best to reserve with 1-2 containers to spare because you will only be charged for what you use. The following information gives a brief description of our containers and sizes.
Containerized units come in two sizes:
- 12′ Portable Storage Unit – Holds contents of approximately 1-2 rooms – about the same size as a 10′ x 10′ storage.
- 16′ Portable Storage Unit – Holds the contents of approximately 3-4 rooms about the same size as a 10′ x 15′ storage room.
Locks for Containers
You are more than welcome to put a lock on your container and hold onto the key throughout the move. You can ensure your belongings will be fully secured and safe in the container until you are ready to have them unloaded.
Container Storage
If you need to have your container stored, our climate-controlled warehouses ensure to keep your contents in the same shape in which they were packed. Our warehouses have 24/7 video surveillance, automated sprinkler systems, and secure warehouse doors.
When you are ready to store your container, simply tie down all the belongings, lock up the container, and give us a call. We will take care of the rest!
